May 30 to June 6, 2013 Visible planets: Morning: none Evening: Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn
Our celestial sojourn through three eclipses and the third of seven exact Uranus/Pluto squares over the last six weeks has left me feeling older, wiser and even more aware of the overload of stimuli contained in each and every nanosecond of my life.
I ran into my longtime friend Salli Russell in the Montrose City Market the other day. She was in the checkout line, buying tons of food for a Telluride high school graduation event that she had committed to cater. Always good to see an old friend, especially one who is spiritually inspired, consciously awake and physically centered in the here and now. We exchanged hugs and hellos and then went right on into what was happening cosmically.
She mentioned that “whew!” she was busy. And, so much going on, overwhelmed. But, everything was good. Her boys were fabulous. Her relationships, better and better. And then, with that knowing look, she said that everyone just seemed to be so tired. She took a deep breath and exhaled, smiling her big, broad smile. I agreed whole-heartedly. Planets colliding, eclipsing and intercepting…is not that par for the course?
A few years back, I read an article in a magazine about baby-boomers and how they had evolved from hippie to yuppie to whatever they have morphed into today. One of the lines was “sleep is the new sex” – and I could totally relate. Nothing like a delicious, nutritious home-cooked meal made with fresh ingredients, a relaxing evening at home and a good night’s rest. Especially in light of the rapidly escalating, warp-speed logarithmic movement of the world’s current multi-dimensional technological information industry, filtering through each and every crack and crevice of our lives. Yes, we are overwhelmed. And we need to somehow mediate and decompress. Relax and regenerate. Rest.
On my way home from Montrose, I was taken by the extreme beauty of the earth and sky surrounding me. The day had been warm and embracing. Not too hot, not too cold. An early morning spattering of rain over Dallas Divide on the way in; on the way out, it looked like anything could happen. Suddenly, the daunting ephemeral character of life hit me and I was overcome with feelings of deep gratitude and heart-opening humility. A moment of grace. A crack between worlds. The floating, ethereal sense of spirit, when all is One.
Like the moving, shifting clouds, enlightenment is transitory. Inspiration is elusive. Emotions come and go, change shape and direction, dissipate and disappear. People also come and go, change shape and direction, dissipate and disappear. We are constantly changing and evolving – physically, spiritually, psychologically – an interconnected, inter-related metamorphic cosmos of birth and death, rebirth and re-creation. As above, so below. Here and there, here and gone.
These days I find myself wanting to garden more and watch television less. I know life is short, and before we know it, it’s over. And yet, I look forward to the next great adventure. Whatever and wherever that might be. For everything there is a season, and a time. May you walk in beauty, live in harmony, know peace and get a good night’s rest. Relax…breathe it all in…and let it go…out.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Mars moves into Gemini and Venus into Cancer this week, delivering both subtle and major shifts in the way you think and feel about relationships. Communication, siblings and male/female issues and interactions are themes. The challenge and imperative for success is maintaining emotional sobriety in the face of whatever comes your way. Refrain from impulsive words and actions. Think before you speak.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Family and friends, thoughts and emotions are themes as mental Mercury and sensual Venus change signs and shape-shift the way you think and feel about brothers, sisters, neighbors and those with whom you interact daily. Balance a rational, realistic, detached approach to relationships and situations with sensitivity and compassion. What we want for others is often not what they want for themselves.
Gemini (May 20-June] Motivator Mars moves into Gemini this week and builds a fire under cherished hopes and dreams. The result is action. Take advantage of the current cosmic encouragement by getting up and getting going each day as early and as energized as possible. Eat when you are hungry, sleep when you are tired and focus on taking good, good care of you – body, mind and spirit. Self-nurture, rest, relax and then go forth!
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Voluptuous Venus enters Cancer this week and opens a glimmering, shimmering golden door to a month of enhanced beauty and bounty. Others are mysteriously, magnetically attracted to your graceful, nurturing style. Favors and appreciation come in many shapes and sizes. Remain spiritually in tune and intact; cultivate compassion and forgiveness in all relationships. Refrain from anger and gossip, it ruins everything.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) The Gemini zodiac month feeds Leo fire with the oxygen of information and ideas, flaming desires and fueling action. And with motivational Mars now in partnership with the Gemini Sun and Jupiter, you can expect red-hot brainstorms and exciting conflagrations of great magnitude. You may have felt confused, frustrated or lost this winter, grappling with what to do and where to go. Now that the storm has lifted, you can clearly see the road ahead. Personal responsibility and self-care are golden keys. Keep them handy.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) Inspiration is a theme and you may find yourself going to great lengths to discover, explore and experience it. As a result, you discover the magical joy of loving without attachment and giving without expectation. Grace comes via compassion and acceptance, letting go of resentment and cultivating attitudes of gratitude. Why create suffering for yourself and others? Live and let live.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Gemini is your opposite sign and balance when you find yourself living beyond your means or over the top. Stop, look and listen. Examine the facts, cultivate a rational approach and bank on what you know rather than investing in illusionary fantasy. Seek the advice and input of wise teachers and time-honored practitioners. It’s fun to explore and discover; the time has come to get down and dirty. Make a commitment.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) Voluptuous Venus in Cancer – your solar 7th house of others – illuminates your relationships with romantic, loving, artistically inviting light. Truth is, you are being presented with a variety of partnership opportunities that are certain to be pleasant and advantageous to your most cherished hopes, dreams and desires. The challenge is in gleaning the kernel from the corn. Focus on your part, be rational and make a plan.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Several planets in airy Gemini support and encourage heartfelt authenticity and right-minded action. The world is your oyster and it’s time to harvest pearls. Many months of preparation have lead to where you are today. You have tilled the soil, planted the seeds and nurtured the seedlings. Now it’s time to plant the garden and co-create with Mother Nature. Focus on good health; take care of your body, feed your soul.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Home and family life continues as themes. Domestic beauty inspires creativity. It is so much fun to experience the results of your work, that you may find yourself wanting to do more. Flowers enhance wellness; surround yourself with Mother Nature’s artistic beauty and bounty. Changes and challenges with siblings and relatives are happening for good reason. Focus on personal truth and detach from the outcome.
