08 Apr GORDON’S POETRY: BOOK RELEASE SUNDAY IN RIDGWAY
Poetry began to spill out of Erika Moss Gordon when she was a young child. Today, the themes have changed, but the words are still spilling. “Of Eyes and Iris” is her first book and it charts her adult journeys into landscapes of the vastly unfamiliar and the everyday extraordinary.
On Sunday, April 14, 3 p.m., enjoy a latte at Cimarron Books in Ridgway and join Erika as she reads from her brand new collection of poetry (Liquid Light Press, 2013).
Former poet laureate Art Goodtimes wrote the following in praise of Erika’s freshman release:
“In an age of overflow, Erika Moss Gordon cuts to the core. She wields language like a pearled knife, honed to epiphany. Carving the lyric essentials out of life’s odd loaf. Here’s a first book that sets a gourmet table and serves up a dazzling meal of bread and water.”
The cover art, entitled “Iris” is a multimedia work by artist Kellie Day, also of Ridgway, CO. The piece was created especially for the book project. The original hangs over Erika’s computer and inspires her every day.
