28 Mar TELLURIDE FILM FESTIVAL: “UNDEAD” CINEMA WRAPS UP APRIL 1
Telluride Film Festival Cinematheque at the Wilkinson Public Library
The Telluride Film Festival and Wilkinson Public Library wrap up their six-part monster series on April Fool’s Day. (No joke.)
The FREE screening takes place Monday, April 1, starting at 5 p.m. for the pre-SHOW reception in the Program Room at the Wilkinson Public Library. The screening begins at 5:30 p.m.
The series has taken viewers through the tombs of the seminal horror classics to explore the impact the genre has had on the world of cinema. Our grand finale is an unexpectedly gorgeous film about love, the insecurities of adolescence – and vampires. As always, patrons will enjoy free food and drink at the pre-show reception.
A not-to-be-missed instant classic, Roger Ebert gave April’s selection, “Let the Right One In” (2008, 115 min, Rated R), 3 ½ out of four stars, and wrote:
“’Let the Right One In’ is a ‘vampire movie,’ but not even remotely what we mean by that term. It is deadly grim. It takes vampires as seriously as the versions of ‘Nosferatu’ by Murnau and Herzog do, and that is very seriously indeed. It is also a painful portrayal of an urgent relationship between two 12-year-olds on the brink of adolescence…the young actors are powerful in draining roles. We care for them more than they care for themselves.”
A stunning vampire, coming-of-age, love story from Swedish director Tomas Alfredson.
