SAN MIGUEL ONE TO ONE: THE DERBY IS BACK

SAN MIGUEL ONE TO ONE: THE DERBY IS BACK

One to One Cardboard Sled Derby Poster copyAfter a five-year time out, One to One’s Cardboard Sled Derby is back and better than ever for kids ages 5-17 from Telluride, Norwood, Mountain Village, Ridgeway, Ouray, and beyond!

“We ran the Cardboard Sled Derby for 11 straight years, then took a break. If we can make this year’s event as much of a success as the races in years past, Telski will allow us to repeat the fun next year and the years after,” said Rick Fusting, board chair, One to One.”The event is free and I encourage all kids to participate. And parents, you can’t imagine how much fun it is to build a sled with your son or daughter. Sponsors, we need your support too. Your participation allows us to keep the derby free and open to the general public.”

It starts with imagination, then add cardboard, duct-tape, paint. Bring your masterpiece to the Telluride Ski Resort, Lift 2 on Sunday, March 24. Registration for One to One’s biggest youth and family event of the year is at 9:30 a.m. Race time is 10:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers for speed, and creativity. However, in order to participate, each team member must have a completed Registration Waiver by Wednesday, March 20. The form is available at: www.onetoonetelluride.org and can also be picked up from Rick’s office, Telluride Sotheby’s, 119 W Colorado Avenue, next door to The Sweet Life.

A reminder. Your sled must meet certain minimum requirements: sleds must have a side, front and back of a minimum of six inches. Metal tape, ropes, or strings are not allowed on your vehicle, but waxing is permitted. Helmets and goggles are required. However ski boots are not allowed.

Youth do NOT need to have a lift ticket to participate.

Do not hesitate to call the One to One office (970-728- 0885) or Rick (970-708-5500) with any questions.

This event is sponsored by the Telluride Ski Resort and Telluride Coffee Roasters.

Special thanks to Chuck Horning and Jeff Proteau.
