EcoAction Partners invites you to join us in celebrating our 48 Truth or Dare participants and the daring sustainable actions they’ve taken since January 1 in our social media-based community competition. On March 14, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., in the Hotel Madeline ‘s Jasper Room, Mountain Village, we will celebrate with food and drink and award well-earned prizes. Participants must be present to win. The event is free and open to the public.

Since January 1, most of our 48 participants have been tracking their daring sustainable actions in this community social media-based competition. Photographs (and videos) have been appearing daily on Facebook and Instagram, charting the challenges (and the fun!) faced in changing daily habits. Participants had the opportunity to take-on a series of 20 “Dares” requesting lifestyle changes that positively affect the environment. The task was simple: complete the most dares throughout the entire contest, post them through social media, and win prizes. They have succeeded brilliantly, and it is time for them to reap the benefits of living and thinking sustainably.

The campaign ends today, Monday, March 11, giving us just enough time to do a final tally before we celebrate on the 14th. Participants and any interested parties (signed-up or not) are invited to join us as we gather to celebrate the community we built around the sustainable living methods introduced through the campaign. At the Hotel Madeline event, we will have an ongoing slideshow representing all submitted photographs. Prizes will be awarded for those with the most points, as well as those who took the most appreciated creative and artistic liberty with their actions.

The Truth or Dare Campaign hoped to challenge community members to engage in sustainable habits in their personal lives. Environmental impact begins with individual decisions, and while many people may be aware of what they should do to lower their carbon footprints and conserve our earth’s resources, it often seems hard to take those first steps. The campaign was designed to give extra incentive to make those changes in the lifestyles of participants throughout the community. We hope that now that people have changed their habits for a month  or more they will continue to use the new sustainable habits over the old.

Didn’t get a chance to play this time? Don’t fret! You will have another chance, as we hope to continue Truth or Dare as an annual or seasonal competition.
