“TELLURIDE GIVES” RAISES $43,000 FOR COMMUNITY NONPROFITS

Telluride Foundation logoThe Telluride Foundation and other local nonprofit organizations united for a three- day online giving campaign, Telluride Gives, to benefit local charities. Donors were able to search for the nonprofit of their choice and make an unexpected, end-of-year gift. The online giving campaign, which engaged 421 donors, exceeded expectations, raising over $43,000.

“The Foundation thanks everyone who donated to Telluride Gives and appreciates all the support that made it successful,” said CEO and President of the Telluride Foundation, Paul Major. “KOTO Radio’s all day coverage on 12.12.12 kept listeners interested and made Telluride Gives a fun community event to follow all day.”

Telluride Rentals sweetened the pot by donating $2,400 in prize money, which will be shared among four winning organizations: Second Chance Animal Humane Society won first prize (receiving an additional $800) for the most money raised with $5,725; the Telluride Historical Museum won second place with $2,825 (winning an additional $400); San Miguel Resource Center won first place for the most donors with 43 donors (winning $800); Telluride Preschool won second place with 30 donors (winning $400).

The Telluride Foundation partnered with the online fundraising company, Kimbia, to develop Telluride Gives, enabling the nonprofits to post their stories, raise awareness, and receive donations to support their missions. This is the second year the Telluride Foundation has funded and hosted Telluride Gives, and this year more than doubled the amount raised in 2011.

“Tis the season of giving and we know that donors are trending toward online giving,” said Major, “We created Telluride Gives to make an easy vehicle for people to support the Telluride Community and to create awareness of these organizations.  We are happy with the success of Telluride Gives and glad the nonprofits get a little extra money in their stockings this year.”
