07 Nov YOUR AH HAA MOMENT: NEW YEARS EVE GALA
Imagine having a dinner party in an art gallery, walking among dynamic paintings and intricate sculptures while sipping wine and nibbling on tasty hors d’oeuvres. How would it be to sit down to a four-course dinner in presence of the artist, leisurely chatting about which pieces drew you in, the emotions they evoked.
Well, stop imagining. Start living the dream.
The setting is the Ah Haa School for the Arts New Year’s Eve Gala. The featured artist for the fourth annual fundraiser is Barbara Gilhooly, a sculptor and painter from Ft. Collins whose work is displayed in galleries as far away as Paris, France.
Gilhooly has also been featured appeared in numerous publications, including Interior Design, Metropolitan Home, Midwest Home & Garden, Metro, Minnesota Monthly, Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, and Canadian Art.
“Barbara’s work is certainly very exciting because it is so wide-ranging: sculpture, found objects and paint,” says Ah Haa Events Manager Kathleen Cole. “The depth and breadth of the work is sure to make a wonderful background for our gala. It’s going to be a very festive environment.”
In Telluride, Gilhooly was a visiting artist for Ah Haa during the summer of 2011, when she taught a found-object sculpture class. For the gala, she will have the entire Daniel Tucker Gallery at her disposal to display a variety of her most recent creations.
“We understand Barbara wil bring some of her wire sculptures and paintings on wood panels,” says Cole. “Everyone who has seen the work is really excited for the gala, the staff in particular.”
Gilhooly will donate one of her pieces to be sold through a silent auction the night of the event. Her show will remain on display throughout January.
The Ah Haa’s 4th annual New Year’s Eve Gala takes place Dec. 31, 2012, 6:30-10 p.m. The cost is $250 per person, which includes a cocktail reception and four-course dinner with wine pairings by Bouillie Catering.
Space is limited.
