With July Fourth upon us, we are officially in the thick of summer. Sooner than we think, however, we will be asking ourselves “Where did the season go?” Mountain life makes for short summers so get out and enjoy it while you can.

With temperatures higher than normal our nights have been pleasant enough to actually sit outside until the sun goes down – without our down jackets. More and more of my friends have been creating outdoor living spaces, some big enough to entertain guests for dinner or just a place to curl up with a friend, loved one, or a good book and a nice cold lemonade or glass of wine. And it doesn’t take much to bring the indoors out, a pillow and a throw on an outdoor chair, a table cloth on a side table and some candles. My outdoor space consists of two upholstered chairs with an ottoman, a side table with a tablecloth and a lantern, which makes for a great place to unwind at the end of the day or  somewhere to read on weekends. If you are lucky enough to have room for an outdoor sofa I highly recommend one, as well as a hanging chair, the ultimate “hang out” spot.
