TELLURIDE CHORALE SOCIETY PRESENTS SPRINGSING

The warmer weather and longer days of spring make many of us want to break out in song. Check out the best spring singers at this year’s annual SpringSing. The concert, on March 29th and April 1st, features singers from Telluride Chorale and the Chamber Singers as well as select soloists. This year’s theme is “Up on the Roof: Music of the Sun, Moon, and Stars,” and includes music by Randall Thompson, James Taylor, the Beatles, Eric Barnum, Irving Berlin and more.

Rhonda Muckerman, Chorale director, says she’s looking forward to seeing “how this music and our energy touches the audience members.” She came up with the idea of the music of the sun, moon, and stars; chorus members then contributed song ideas. Everyone has been working hard but once the music is heard by an audience, Muckerman says, “the cycle is complete.”

The Telluride Chorale Society has been around for seventeen years, and averages about seventy singers each year.  They normally perform six-eight concerts per year, plus a number of “random acts of culture” town.

Muckerman has been teaching music for over twenty-five years. She was classically trained as a flutist, has a BMusic degree in music education, and a Master of Music degree in Conducting. Muckerman says her favorite part about being a director is the people she gets to work with.  “The singers include people from all walks of life; they bring their courage, their voices, and their love of music, and we get to rehearse and perform some marvelous music.”

Concert venues are at St. Pat’s (March 29th) and Christ Church (April 1st) at 7:00 p.m.  Ticket prices are $15/adults and $8/kids.
