23 Feb TAB GALA DELIVERS “LUNCH WITH MARK” (CONSUELOS)
If you a daytime soap fan, you know him from “All My Children,” the melodrama about life in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania, that aired on ABC in January 1970 and closed for business in September 2011. Mark Consuelos joined the cast in February 1995 as the middle child and only son of the Santos family, which relocated from Texas to PA. His wife, Kelly Ripa, played Hayley Vaughan on the program (1990 – 2002).
You may also know Mark from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” or “Live with Regis & Kelly” (as in his wife) fame.
Mark Consuelos was born in Zaragoza, Spain, and grew up in Lebanon, Illinois and Tampa, Florida. He attended Bloomingdale High School and Notre Dame University, where he received his degree in marketing. While living in Illinois, Mark appeared in Hello, Dolly at the Looking Glass Playhouse. Before his gig on “All My Children,” he guested on television shows such as “Fortune Hunter” and “SeaQuest.”
I am not over-egging the pudding when I say the TV star is a hunk. Thanks to TAB board chair Jodie Shike Wright, lunch with Mark Consuelos is one of the prizes to be auctioned off on the runway at the Telluride AIDS Benefit Gala Fashion Show.
How did Jodie get Mark to agree?
“Raising money for the Telluride AIDS Benefit is my goal. Duty really. Money enables TAB to ‘Fight, Fund, and Educate’ (our theme) on and about HIV/AIDS. To get what we need, I will do just about anything: inquire, petition, woo, ask, nag, and beg. To get Mark Consuelos to come on board, I resorted to shameless begging: ‘Please, please, please… and one pretty please.” And Mark surrendered. ‘O.K., I will do it…’ What a sport. And, the bidding has already started with one hungry contender at $1,000!”
Other items up for grabs include fabulous wines, festival packages, clothing, trips, and more.
