While Superman, Batman and Spiderman may be the most popular superheroes today, if you ask any Telluride local who their favorite one is, they’ll all give you the same answer: The Tellurider.

Standing for environmental protection, historical preservation and, of course, skiing, The Tellurider used his super powers to not only build the ski area, but also to combat his arch-nemesis, The Leveler, whose sole mission was to “Aspenize” Telluride with big-name hotels, fast food chains and high-rise buildings.

Copies of the 1970s comic are scarce, but the Telluride Historical Museum has one on display for all who are interested. And it’s definitely worth a look. Besides, what other ski resort can say that they have their very own superhero? I can’t think of one.
