January 5 to 12, 2012
Visible Planets: Morning: Mars and Saturn Evening: Venus and Jupiter
As I take my first steps through the mystical forest of 2012, I can’t help but feel a certain type of calculated anticipation and inspired awe. Even being here – alive on planet Earth at this particular point in time – is somewhat of a miracle.
I can’t count the pages I’ve read or time I’ve spent researching indigenous teachings – including Mayan prophecies – and still, I’m far from scholarly or enlightened here. As an astrologer, I often feel a responsibility and obligation to make some sort of statement regarding the highly promoted and prophesized year of 2012. How many times have we collectively seen, heard and thought about that number? Individually, what does it mean? What will happen on Dec. 21, 2012, when the solstice sun lines up with the Galactic Center? Will the earth flip on its axis? Will there be great cataclysm and apocalypse? Is this the hour of the Great Ascension?
At times, I feel that it’s all so much hype. And then, at other times, I know it’s real, as real as anything or anybody. I cannot escape the fact that we humans fabricate a thinking, breathing, feeling collective body, an energetic evolutionary force that effects change and manifests destiny. And yet, we are far from all-powerful. The Earth, the cosmos, the phenomenal universe, planetoids and asteroids, Mother Nature, our Sun, the Great Mystery…there are countless energies and entities more powerful than we. WE, we, we who define, rationalize, explain and exploit. We, who carve out and craft our realities, defend our gods and goddesses; pontificate scientific hypotheses and promote mystical, social and political worldviews. We, who fight for oil, fight for fear and oxymoronically claim to fight for peace. Unified in diversity, a species that comes in thousands of colors and millions of shapes and sizes, we humans are here on Earth in the millennial year 2012, waiting, watching and wondering – together.
I am well aware that this is a major and magnificent paradigm shift, a sweeping change in the collective consciousness, and it will take place – is taking place right now – whether we realize it consciously or not. What was, no longer is. What is, is. To live here – to be here now – to vibrantly embrace these times – requires conscious living and conscious loving; we must recognize that everything we do and say has an immediate, resounding affect upon every part and particle of our world, universe and cosmos. We act upon it and it acts upon us, it’s a processional dance of immediate karma. And we have reached the point in our evolution where knowledge – just knowing that our thoughts have an evolutionary affect upon our evolution – speeds up and amplifies the power of the effect. It’s the smoking mirror of action, intention and reflection, when we are being called accountable for everything we have done so far and being called to think, live, act and breathe consciously in the forever present now. And perhaps most of all, the most important player in the play, the Mother Earth, the Great Mother, the Mother of us all, is up front and center in the meaning and message of this millennial shift. May you immerse yourself in her warmth and be guided by her wisdom as you join me in our mystical journey through the magical forest of 2012. Blessings and peace…
p.s. I will be posting more on 2012, as well as a 2012 Year Ahead forecast for all signs on my website soon. In the meantime, I will continue to live in the ever-present now, doing the best I can. God Bless.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19)
2012 promises more awakening and electric change; this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to totally revamp and recreate yourself and your life via truth, honesty and self-authenticity. The old guard, the previous regime and the way you lived your life before now is history. Cultivate patience and perseverance as you maintain focus. Practice self-care and loving-kindness.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
The Great Benefic, planet Jupiter, has been a generous guest in your sign over the last year, showering you with material and spiritual gifts, new life, hope and opportunity. Now it’s time to take your enlightenment and carve out a path of self-fueled, productive creativity. Utilize inherent talents to bring beauty, love and light to yourself, others and the world.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
The first half of 2012 provides plenty of time and space to prepare for the advent of Jupiter’s June entrance into Gemini. Rest, relax and open the doors to spirit when and wherever you find them. Cultivate conscious contact with the numinous and divine, connect with nature and surrender to the cosmic flow. Friends excite awakening and inspiration. Create.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Family relationships, parental issues, children and all matters of home and security continue to stabilize in shape and scope as matter-of-fact Saturn moves through the last degrees of Libra. This stabilizing influence provides a good, solid foundation upon which to build mature, long-lasting behaviors and relationships. Honesty, integrity and humor are allies.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
2012 gets off to a fiery, fun-loving start with all planets moving direct, including amorous Venus and dreamy Neptune in Aquarius and flirty Mercury in Sag. This translates as a week of romantic opportunity, exciting mentality and idealistic vision for the Lion. As worldviews and life philosophies shift and shake, remain open to it all. Enjoy the fun!
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
You may feel pressure from a family member or domestic situation as the year begins, but don’t worry, just like the weather, it will change. The biggest challenges you face this year are those on the inside, rather than the outside. It may appear as if the world, outer circumstances and others are responsible for what’s wrong, but not so. Do the inner work and live the miracle.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22)
Taskmaster Saturn will take its exit from your sign this year, but not until early October. Until then, the Great Manifestor moves back and forth in the last degrees of Libra, giving you the splendid opportunity to really clean up and cast off what now longer works or bears fruit. This is a fabulous time to use self-discipline, focus and work hard. Good luck!
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
With good luck, good fortune planet Jupiter now whizzing forward at 0º Taurus, which marks the boundary of your solar 7th house of long-term relationships, you may fine delight in several months of enhanced sharing and pairing. Marriage and commitment may be on the agenda for some, with exciting fresh starts and new beginnings for others. Be happy!
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
Magic Mercury in fun-loving Sagittarius squares masculine Mars in virtuous Virgo this week, popping bubbles and playing tricks on you and others. Both prudish and risqué behaviors come under the gun, scrutiny is the name of the game. Stay out of the fray by keeping a good sense of humor and making light of other’s critiques. Simply be true to truth.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
Happy birthdays continue as Christmas passes and the New Year begins. Congratulations on another revolution around the sun! As always, this is a time of recognition and reflection, assessment and evaluation. 2012 promises great material and spiritual opportunity, but the stakes are high. Old, dysfunctional, manipulative behaviors must go. It’s time for rebirth.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18)
With lovely Venus and numinous Neptune in your sign, others find you attractive, dreamy, sweet and sublime. Bask in the glow of illusion as you float on pink clouds in a land of honey. Questions of reality beckon as you ask, “Am I dreaming?” Whether you’re the dreamer or the dreamed, you are you. Make the you the best you can be and live fully in the dream.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20)
As you float in the dreamy land between air Aquarius and fiery Aries, you are one who intuits the limits of mind and body, the spoils of strategy and self-will. Things are not always as they seem and invisible forces work in mysterious ways. 2012 illuminates a shimmering path of spiritual experience and enlightenment for those willing to take the high road.
