17 Dec YOUR AH HAA MOMENT: “ART & SOUL”
Daniel Tucker is a gardener of sorts. The Telluride institution he founded 21 years ago, the Ah Haa School for the Arts, is a place where the seeds of creativity get planted and nurtured. Multi-media artist – printmaker, painter and sculpture, Barbara Gilhooly, puts an exclamation point on Tucker’s vision with her upcoming three-day workshop, Thursday, February 23 – Saturday, February 25, the Art & Soul Women’s Retreat.
Art & Soul was designed to help participants connect with their inner artist. Mornings begin with an asana practice followed by a meditation. Class work follows yoga and includes visual journaling and the creation of cigar-box shrines, shorthand for learning the basics of construction, collage, and embellishment.
Barbara Gilhooly was born in North Dakota in 1963. She received a BFA at the University of North Dakota and an MFA from Colorado State University in printmaking and sculpture.
Gilhooly is a professional artist known for her sculptural wire, images on wood panels, and playful “Misfit” found object assemblages of aircraft, angels and Tin Folk. Her work has recently been on display in Paris, New York, Colorado, and at several exhibitions in the Twin Cities.
