October 13 to 20, 2011 Visible Planets: Morning: Mars and Jupiter Evening: Mercury and Venus
The Crimson Ivy and Crackling Fires of Libra/Scorpio
It’s off-season in the San Juans and that translates as a time to slow down and take a look around. Magnificent Indian Summer weather gifts us with the blue, blue skies of autumn, stunning snow-white peaks, still-green fields washed with yellow, crimson ivy and forests paved in gold. October is a month of magic, mystery and metamorphosis. The tantalizing tales of witches, sorcerers and spirits make their way into living rooms and schoolrooms, travel the ethers and fly from bed to breakfast as we enter the darkest, most mystical time of the year.
Last week’s full Hunter’s Moon illuminated the multi-faceted jewel of relationship. Sharing and pairing, how we show up for others and how they show up for us were themes that resonated throughout the cosmos, filling our hearts and heads with thoughts, emotions and experience. This week, the focus on relationships continues. As we move into the last week of light and lovely Libra and approach the magnetic, seductive power of Scorpio, we instinctively shape-shift with the changing light and shortening days. Our bodies crave comfort, food and shelter. We find ourselves attracted to crackling fires, cozy couches, hot meals and warm bodies. From harvest to table, we gather the fruits of our labors and prepare for winter.
May the joys of autumn and the grace of goodness find their place and space in your life and on your table. Blessings, beauty and peace…
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) As the recent Libra/Aries full Moon brought issues of personal destiny and purpose into focus, you may have found new meaning and understanding in your relationships. The tough love you receive from others is truly what you need. Take a good look at your part, accept responsibility, do the work and reap the benefits. Now and forever more.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) With mental Mercury now joining voluptuous Venus in your solar 7th house of long-term relationships, you may find yourself thinking about what you want and are attracted to in others. Commitment and marriage are themes. Prepare for several weeks of heightened attention and activity here by clarifying personal values. Focus on walking your talk.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) As the Sun aligns with Saturn this week, you may feel a proverbial hardening of the heart when it comes to romantic illusion and idealistic love. Seeing others exactly as they are and accepting them – with all their flaws and faults – in the hard, cold light of day is the challenge here. Our most difficult relationships are our greatest teachers. Learn and relearn.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) The poignancy of autumn, coupled with a passionate, romantic heart puts you in touch with feelings buried beneath layers of to do lists and daily responsibilities. Take a moment to appreciate life in all its mystery and magnificence. Life today is a combination of natural and synthetic forces, cultivate balance between the two. What moves the soul fuels the psyche.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) Relationship issues are paramount this week as Mars, Jupiter and Venus square off in a dance of ego, passion, demand and desire. Focus on the bigger picture and cultivate a calm, realistic, practical approach to love in place of self-aggrandized suffering. Cultivate a sense of balance and nurture self-care. See the truth, be the truth and live the truth.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) You may feel encouraged in some areas and defeated in others. Welcome to life! Acceptance is the answer to all your problems today and utilizing the great power of personal choice is the means of achieving happiness, health and wealth. Easier said than done, you say? Simply do the next right thing, focus on basic goodness and leave the rest to Cosmic Force.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) Feeling over-burdened, tied down or simply held back from having fun? Whatever the answer, know that these days and times are all about self-discipline, self-care and self-responsibility. As you prune the bush, rake the leaves and clean the garden, embrace the joy of focused attention and right action. Accomplishment and achievement are allies. Do the work.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) You may have found your niche or fallen in to a place and space of magic and mystery. Instinct and intuition are powerful forces that guide and direct motion and emotion. A combination of surrender and action is what’s being called for amidst the powerful cosmic flow of collective, metamorphic change. Sobriety, serenity and integrity are allies. Enjoy!
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) Time marches on, seasons change and life evolves. Seeing the bigger picture has never been a problem for you, but you may find yourself getting stuck in other people’s lives and agendas while the world turns. Rise like an eagle above the madness and soar to a place of freedom and enlightenment. Cultivate a daily spiritual practice and stick to it. Yes!
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) The last week of zodiac Libra delivers more action in and attention to the most important people and relationships of your life. Marriage, family, partners, professional and social commitments square dance in a festival of personal and shared responsibility. The solution here is a realistic balance of compassion and detachment. Do the work, live the freedom.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Day by day, moment-by-moment, we live and breathe, learn and re-learn. If you find yourself coming up against the same walls and roadblocks that you’ve come up against in the past, recognize that these lessons are special and essential to your personal evolution here on earth. Each incarnation is a gift of grace. Take the test, do your best and let go of the rest.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) As the Libra sun-time wanes and planets move into neighboring Scorpio, relax in knowing that all is as it should be. Even the most brutal lessons have meaning and purpose. It’s often hard to take the necessary steps to health and healing, but in the end, it’s worth it. Feel your feelings and follow the intuitive truth found in the heart and soul. It’s the real deal.
