San Miguel Basin Fair and Rodeo 2011

Dessert table Just a little reminder that the San Miguel Basin Fair and Rodeo is taking place right now down in Norwood. The festivities began at 6:00 pm on Friday, July 15th, @ the County Fairgrounds Outdoor Arena with a Greased Pig Contest – PRIZE $50 or a pig – and covered Five Age Divisions: 6-7, 8-10, 11-14, 15 & up, Seniors. That event was followed by a 7:30 PM-12 AM Country Western Rock&Roll Barn Dance at the Pig Palace.

On Saturday morning, the Fair hosted the weekly Norwood Farm & Craft Market @ the Pig Palace and an 11AM-1PM Pit Party BBQ in the Fairground Grandstands. From 6PM-8PM a  Freestyle Motocross Exhibition (Gates at 5PM) – takes place at the Fairgrounds – admission is $15. This one is a first.

Sunday July 17th, is the day of the infamous Dessert Contest. Registration of desserts takes place between 3PM-5PM, judging is at 5PM and then, finally, @ 7PM the winners are announced and the doors open to the public for dessert tasting – and it's free!

Next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 21st, 22nd and 23rd, the Rodeo comes to town. But all week, there's plenty of down home, western fun to watch and participate in. To see a full schedule and events guide, go to www.fencepost.com. See you there!
