The Sweet Love, Lust and Choice of Cancer Eclipse Energy

Cone rainbow I’m reading about climate change and thinking about 2012. It’s overwhelming. There is so much information available to us today. I’m stunned by and in awe of the Internet. I can’t express how lucky I feel to be living right here, right now on this magically beautiful planet Earth. In light of all the craziness, injustice, chaos and insanity of human life in our newborn millennium, I can still see and experience the enchanting power of a sunset, the blessings of rain and the drama of lightening; hallowed thunder and shimmering rainbows.

Pink sunset July 1st marks the last of three “summer” eclipses and as a new Moon solar eclipse, it begins to close the window on the highly charged (actual and metaphysical) energetic cosmic atmosphere that accompanies our biannual solar and lunar eclipse cycles. Taking place @ 09º12’ Cancer, we can expect softer, kinder feelings and experiences, a sense of comfort and security, as well as the imperative awareness that we are all here together, nurtured and cared for by our own common mother, the Mother Earth.

Wild ride The recent Gemini/Sagittarius eclipses carried themes of lessons and learning, teaching and searching, travel, information and communication. Somewhat confusing, chaotic and crazy in its multi-faceted, multi-tasking techniques and technocracies, Gemini/Sag often feels fast-paced, far-fetched and simply just too far out there. Seemingly schematic and frequently schizoid, we can get lost in TMI or over-amped by FYI’s. The Gemini/Sag function is education and enlightenment, but the process can be like riding a wild roller coaster that’s screeching out of control; everyone is screaming and images fly by, our minds open and spinning. One thing for sure: it’s exciting. And we’re glad when it stops. We step off, plant two feet on the ground and let out a sigh of relief. We made it!

Now, to embrace goodness, grace and gratitude, sweet love and sweet lust as the Sun, Moon, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto align in the dynamic configuration of a cardinal grand cross. This could well be the hottest “hot spot” of the year. Eclipses are doorways to higher consciousness and this one signals that we have reached a major crossroads, a powerful point of decision and choice. The energy of initiation emanates throughout the cosmos, we are asked to take responsibility, take charge and go forth. Good luck and may the Force be with you. And Happy Independence Day! May the Joy of Freedom and the Luck of Lady Liberty shine blessings and beauty upon your chosen path.

Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) The July 1st new Moon solar eclipse may be the hottest “hot spot” of the year for Rams. Electric Uranus in Aries plays the great awakener, challenging you to let go of old, dysfunctional behavior patterns and live vitally in the present. It’s all about structural changes and new freedoms. Take responsibility, take charge and stay in the solution.

Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) Good luck Jupiter in Taurus awards you with personal opportunity amidst the chaos of other people’s volatility and flux. As you are being awakened to a new personal spiritual understanding of life and all its challenges, pay attention to seemingly coincidental happenstance and unusual circumstance. Remain open to divine messages and angelic guidance.

Gemini (May 21-June 21) Awakening and liberation are themes for this week’s eclipse; so don’t be surprised if you want to run away! A powerful cardinal cross gives you the keys and puts you behind the wheel; just make sure there’s fuel in the tank and money in the bank before taking off. Acceptance and responsibility are allies on the road ahead. Pay attention and read the signs.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) Each year the new Moon in Cancer heralds a magical time when soul and spirit, heart and mind conjoin in a metaphysical dance of rebirth. This week, the union of mystical forces takes place during a solar eclipse, portending 2011 as extraordinary and power-packed. Change, responsibility, self-nurturing and self-discipline are keys. Good luck!

Leo (July 23-Aug.22) The last time Uranus and Pluto conjoined was in the 1960’s, a time of exceptional creativity and worldwide turmoil; their approaching square impels us to manifest what was seeded then. As kings and queens of heart, love and rock n’ roll, be the flower child you were born to be. Shine like the sun and walk in beauty. Give peace a chance. All we need is love.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) Themes of personal responsibility regarding income and earnings abound as eclipse energy encourages major new beginnings regarding means of living and quotients of physical security. Take a deep breath, focus on one thing at a time and don’t lose yourself in the hurry and quest of self-importance. Inner peace is essential to health and well-being. Slow down.

Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22) Huge tailwinds blow for sweeping personal and global change as Pluto, Uranus and Saturn form a cardinal Grand Cross with the Cancer solar eclipse new Moon. As the wide-scale restructuring of economic, social and political institutions continues, know that all is as it should be – right now. This doesn’t mean you sit back and drink the poison. Be pro-active.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) A solar eclipse new Moon in Cancer advises you to do it in a feminine way. Mothering, nurturing, loving and giving comfort to yourself and others is the way to enlighten and enrich your life, as it is, here on earth. Get creative, share laughter, give birth to new forms, grow your garden, cooperate, strengthen relationships. Go green. Focus on building anew.

Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) What needs to be cut out of your life for your light to shine more fully? How are you fracturing energy by over-extension? There’s always plenty to do and you don’t want to miss out, but this approach always sets you up for self-defeat. Calm down and slow down. You simply have too much on your plate. Focus on the facts and listen to your friends.

Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Transformational Pluto in your sign plays a powerful role in the Cancer cardinal Grand Cross solar eclipse. This translates as both a turning point and milestone. Embrace what comes and practice acceptance. Life happens and we are presented with the unpredictable and uncontrollable. Discover the river and ride the current. Do what you can, then practice the art of surrender.

Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) New priorities and wide-scale restructuring are themes as planets square off in a dance of challenge and change. It may be difficult to accept life on life’s terms, but it’s the quickest way to finding solutions. Rather than fret over what you can’t change, change what you can. Take care of your own back yard and let your neighbors take care of theirs. Live in the present.

Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Uranus, the mythic God of Chaos, represents the volatility and flux necessary for a new order to emerge. Rebellion and revolution are avenues of change and radical awakenings abound. That said, you understand the value of inner calm amidst disorder and confusion. Keep the peace and don’t let your or other’s emotional coloring distort the facts and figures.
