11 Jun Telluride Bluegrass: Mountain Village Parking
Town of Mountain Village reserves Bluegrass Festival parking spaces for its residents and businesses
June 8, 2011 (Mountain Village, Colo.) – As the Town of Mountain Village becomes inundated with parked vehicles during the 38th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the town has set aside specific parking spaces for its residents and businesses from Wednesday, June 15 through Sunday, June 19.
Mountain Village residents who have procured a parking permit may park in the Town Hall Plaza Parking lot, the same lot as The Market at Mountain Village. The 26 spaces designated for permit holders are those located along the rock wall. These parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and overnight parking is not allowed. Any resident with a parking permit may also park in the North Village Center pay-to-park surface lot for free. Again, overnight parking is not allowed.
Employees who work for a business with a physical presence in Mountain Village Center who already have an employee windshield permit sticker will be allowed to park on upper Mountain Village Boulevard outbound lane, between Sunny Ridge Place and Lookout Ridge. This is the same employee permit parking locale that was in effect during the 2010/2011 winter season. Approximately 40 spaces will be made available to employees on a first-come, first-served basis, Wednesday through Sunday. These spaces are not guaranteed, so once they are occupied Planet Bluegrass parking staff will direct employees where to park. Pedestrian access to and from upper Mountain Village Boulevard to Mountain Village Center will be through the North Village Center Parking lot.
Individuals and festivarians without parking permits must park their vehicles where directed by parking staff. The North Village Center pay-to-park surface lot is still in effect until 2 a.m., but again, resident permit holders may park in this lot for free during the festival. The town requests that short-term parking lots be made available for those still doing business in Mountain Village. Those parked in short-term lots longer than the allotted time will be ticketed.
Alternatively, for those parking in Mountain Village, we encourage one to take advantage of the Heritage Parking Garage, located off Mountain Village Boulevard across from Hotel Madeline. To park, you must use a credit card. The first three hours are free and then it costs $1 for each hour until exit.
Gondola & Planet Bluegrass Bus
During the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, gondola operational hours are from Wednesday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Please expect long lines during peak times. For those needing a ride to their vehicle parked on town roadways, the Planet Bluegrass Bus will pick up festivarians at Town Hall Plaza and drop off passengers near their vehicle. Bus operations are Wednesday through Sunday from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. To assist with locating one’s vehicle, signs denoting specific parking zones will be erected. Please remember to take note as there are seven zones – A through G.
Obtaining A Residential Parking Permit
Residential parking permits are available via the Mountain Village Police Department. To obtain a permit, a document must be presented showing proof of residential status. Acceptable documentation includes, but is not limited to, a utility bill or vehicle registration form; the document must include a Mountain Village address. While permits will be issued for up to two vehicles at the same address, only one vehicle per address may utilize the permitted area at a time. Obtaining a permit does not give residents extended time limits on short-term parking.
For questions concerning the permit process, festival parking or general parking questions, please contact a community service officer, (970) 729-3455.
