20 May 2011 Mountainfilm in Telluride: Gallery Walk Overview
Mountainfilm in Telluride kicks off the summer festival season in town. And the official kick-off of that party gets underway with Mountainfilm's Gallery Walk.
Twelve different venues around town host receptions (drinks and hors d'oeuves ) for artists selected by Festival director David Holbrooke.
The talent of this year's list includes Judith Selby and Richard Lang, who convert beach plastic into art. The couple also made the awards for Mountainfilm 2011. Antrim Caskey is a photographer who imbedded with mountain top remover protesters. Her work is on the cover of the Mountainfilm program. Paul Colangelo is the photographer working with Wade Davis to protect the sacred headwaters of the Stikine Valley. Drew Ludwig's photographs document life along the Gulf Coast five years after Katrina, as the Gulf oil spill was about to be capped.
