04 Dec Telluride TV: New Exec Director, Program and Interactive Website
(Ed. note: Telluride TV sent the following press release.)
Executive Director:
Katie Karow, an accomplished sales and marketing executive and Telluride local became Telluride TV's new Executive Director effective December 1. Karow replaces Susan Lilly who, in April, as a member of the Board of Directors, agreed to serve as the Interim Executive Director until a permanent successor could be identified.
Karow most recently worked as administrator and board president for Mountain Sprouts Preschool, where she initiated new fundraising strategies, including successful grant writing. Karow led the school through the Planning and Zoning process to secure a new home for the Sprouts, strengthened the Board of Directors and teaching staff.
“We had a tremendously talented pool of applicants for this job, but ultimately Katie was the most well-rounded and best fit for our organization,” said Mary Jo Guarrero, board president.
“I am thrilled with the opportunity to further Telluride TV’s reach to help bring awareness to local businesses and non-profits, to expand educational programs for children and adults, and to enhance entertainment, “ Karow said. “One of my main goals is to use our multi-media platforms to encourage locals, second home owners, and visitors feel more connected with our unique community."
Under Lilly’s leadership, the board-run Telluride TV stabilized its financial situation, rebuilt its website, and now is launching a new, locally produced program, “Telluride Time,” to air through the 2010-2011 ski season.
“We were in critical condition for awhile there, but with much hard work from a number of people and with support from our community, we are not only solid, but thriving. Telluride TV is truly a gift to this community, and Katie is best suited to embrace and run with it,” Lilly said.
“We are now positioned to make a unique contribution to our community largely because of Susan’s crisis management skills, our hardworking board of directors, and our anticipated bright future with Katie,” Guarrero said.
New program:
“Telluride Time,” with Ashley Boling, a new 30-minute, locally produced program launched December 1 and features events, topics, and people of interest to the Telluride region and its visitors, all with an attractive and funky edge.
Boling is an actor, comedian, and Telluride personality who has been featured in multiple international media such as ESPN, CNN, and the New York Times.
“When I think of Telluride Time, I think late. So chill out, because now you’re on 'Telluride Time,” Boling said.
“Telluride Time” is co-produced by Telluride TV and Suzan Beraza, the award- winning filmmaker of the internationally acclaimed documentary “Bag It” and her Reel Thing Productions.
Beraza, who will produce, shoot, and edit the program, is joined by local award- winning filmmaker and motion graphics designer Suz Remec. Remec is producing the graphic animation and will also shoot and edit segments of the program.
Susan Lilly, a national Emmy Award-winning television journalist, will serve as a consultant on behalf of Telluride TV and continue to serve on the organization’s board.
"Telluride Time" can be seen on Cable Channel 12, seven days a week, 7am – 10am, 12:30 pm – 130pm, and 3pm – 5pm, throughout the ski season. Segments of the program can also be seen on www.telluridetv.org.
