10 Dec Funday Sunday @ Telluride's five-star library

Why does Telluride’s Wilkinson Public Library need Friends?
The Wilkinson is a five-star book mecca in part because it attracts a steady stream of traffic. Locals and guests love the place and use it as a regular hang-out, a kind of safe haven. The kids’ section is always alive with activity. And Scott Doser’s programs attract regular weekly crowds.
December 12 is Funday Sunday at Telluride’s five-star Wilkinson Public Library. The all-day event begins with a brief annual meeting of the Friends of the Library, 1 p.m., to explain the role of the Friends.
The meeting is followed by a High Def/Blu-Ray screening of “The Wizard of Oz.” (The High Definition Blu-Ray format projector was gifted to the Library by the Friends.)
That same evening, the Friends of the Library presents “A Christmas Carol” Dinner, including food and wine pairings and entertainment.
The dinner is catered by Telluride Master Chef Bud Thomas based on recipes from Red Rock Press’s “A Christmas Dinner,” Charles Dickens’s very first published work. Red Rock is owned by Telluride part-time locals Ilene and Richard Barth. Red Rock’s art director Susan Smilanic, designer of the 21st version of “A Christmas Dinner,” plans to be on hand for the event to share the experience of recreating the pages of this 1835 English Regency period tale.
Chef Bud’s menu includes 19th-century savories such as cock-a-leekie soup, sage roasted turkey breast with gingersnap gravy and bread and butter pudding.
Steve Craig of Wine Mine at Pacific Street Liquors is on hand for the selected pairings.
The entertainment is local actor Jeb Berrier, who will be creating a dramatic reading of the Dickens story, and the Telluride Choral Society’s Holiday Singers.
