01 Aug Lustre Gallery hosts Gurhan trunk show in Telluride
Tuesday, August 3, 1:30– 6 p.m., Telluride’s Lustre Gallery, 171 South Pine, hosts a trunk show featuring the newest collection of Gurhan bling, his 4/24K gold line.
4/24K underlines Gurhan’s tropism for the past. This time, the craftsman is using an early Ottoman alloy containing four karats of gold and combines it with his signature pure 24 karat gold.
Gurhan’s alchemy has been well documented:
“Gurhan is unique in his use of 24-karat gold, which is often considered too soft a metal to manipulate. After spending 18 months closeted in a small workshop in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, Gurhan rediscovered ancient metalsmithing techniques, some over 7000 years old, and improved upon them: pure gold is hand-worked, aged through a heating process, and given a stable form, resulting in a beautiful work of art,” said Christine Reich, co-owner of Lustre.
Sanja Tusek from Gurhan is in Telluride to present the collection.
