Awakening and Change Afloat on an Ocean of Emotion

Red sunset Planet Uranus, the Great Awakener, has recently moved in and out of Aries – the very first sign of the tropical zodiac – and, in so doing, has awakened us to what’s up in the road ahead. Aries is the sign of primal instinct, self-awareness and survival. Aries is ruled by the “red-planet” Mars – ancient god of war and champion of desire – and is the sign most associated with new beginnings, fresh cycles, initiation, motivation and action. It is a positive, masculine sign of cardinal modality, the energy of pursuit and prey, passion, competition, exertion and assertion. Whenever a planet moves into Aries, we enter new territory and explore new frontiers. It’s also a time of rebirth and recovery, when we are called upon to reincarnate or regenerate what has died or disappeared, been destroyed or fallen into dysfunction. It heralds the revival of important ideas and forces, as well as a period of broad and significant individual and collective change.

It takes Uranus 84 years to complete one revolution around the Sun – the approximate time of one human life cycle – and its movement chronicles individual life transitions, awakenings and change. Collectively, Uranus represents how, when and where we come together as friends, comrades and associates. It’s the planet of fellowship and friendship, human rights and humanitarian concerns, brotherhood and sisterhood. Our sense of truth, honesty and social justice is awakened during Uranus transits, the desire to rebel or revolt often emerges and we feel compelled to join force with others of like mind and spirit in efforts for and in the name of enlightened change.

Redsea2 Uranus entered the watery world of Pisces in March of 2003 and has been riding the waves of the collective unconscious, floating upon oceans of emotion and sailing the seas of sympathetic sensitivity ever since. We have seen ourselves awakened to the rising tides of global warming and the unpredictability of climate change – are there really more hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes now, or is it just that we know about them?  The apparently unethical, unbridled, dishonest and potentially demonic hand of greed and brokered power has flooded lives and eroded world economies. We realize that we are simply not in control.

Redsun2 So, as Uranus makes it last and final pass through Pisces – it will return to Aries in March of 2011 – dive into those numinous waters of soul and spirit. Connect with the Creative Source, the Great Spirit, Universal Mind or Cosmic Consciousness – God as you understand God – some sort of divine, invisible Presence, and surrender. Recognize the power of humility, the serenity of acceptance and the grace of gratitude. We simply cannot survive alone – we are at the mercy of and dependent upon forces much greater than our individual selves. Ask your angels, pray for guidance and live in the effervescent, luminous light of the divine, eternal present. We are coming to the end of a great age and era. It’s time to revitalize, regenerate and recover as we prepare for the upcoming battle of Truth and Light. Come springtime, we’ll be ready for war. Good luck and Happy Full Moon!

Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19)
The Leo lunar cycle comes to fruition with the Aug. 20th Full Moon in early Virgo/Pisces. This rather emotional lunation reminds the Ram to temper pride and ego with compassion and humility. Recognize the part you play in relationship – how do you show up for others? Self-importance and self-justification lead to self-pity, anger and resentment. Be good!

Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
The solar transition from Leo to Virgo soothes the soul and opens the heart. Breathe deep and feel the healing power of nature. Daily walks, fresh air and a general attitude of gratitude align you with the inherent power, truth and beauty of living life in the present. Compassion and discretion are allies. Cultivate inner peace and maintain balance.

Gemini (May 21-June 21)
Fiery Leo gives way to earthy Virgo and the world is suddenly more subtle and scholastic. Preparations for school, end of summer celebrations and a general sense of seasonal change is in the air. Gather your senses and take it all in. You are returning to the source, remembering from where you came and rebirthing in the present. Embrace the winds of change.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Another Full Moon for Moonchildren – this time in Virgo/Pisces – and you are being called upon to balance order and chaos, time and timelessness, fantasy and reality. Recognize the power of choice and the possibilities of perception. How you see the world is unique to you and reality is relative. Prepare for a few weeks of mental R&R – take it easy, one day at a time.

Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
Your Happy Birthday lunar month comes to fruition in neighboring Virgo, encouraging more humility and less hubris than you might normally like to experience. Focus on truth and forget about ego. Others already see you as beautiful, creative and magnificent. What are you trying to prove? Relax and accept everything exactly as it is. Reevaluate and regenerate.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
Happy Birthday month to capable, competent Virgins. With ruler Mercury now retrograde; embrace the golden opportunity for self-renewal, regeneration and review. Treat yourself with loving-kindness and compassion as you travel down memory lane or take that personal inventory. Count your blessings and say your prayers. All is as it should be.

Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
Acceptance and surrender are themes this week and zodiac month. Practice the art of humility and understand the value of daily routines. Order and cleanliness are allies, while a sense of and connection to a Higher Power, Great Spirit or Angelic Presence is essential to your spiritual progress and overall physical/emotional health. Embrace life.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
The Virgo zodiac month favors order and organization balanced with a deep sense of reverence and respect for the numinous and divine. There is so much in this world and life that we cannot control – almost everyone and everything external – that true security comes only from within. Focus on a daily spiritual practice and cultivate inner peace.

Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
Wow! The beginning of the end of summer, the Virgo zodiac month marks the initiation of the scholastic year, upcoming autumn and the poign
ant seasonal transition from heat to cool. Get out and enjoy Mother Nature in all her beauty and bounty as you gather firewood and set store for winter. Balance home life and professional life with joy and patience.

Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
The ongoing and very powerful T-square in cardinal signs – including Pluto in Capricorn – continues to force the hand of fate and keeps the pressure on regarding real, rather than just cosmetic, change. Bottom lines in relationships and business are radically transforming. Understand the motion and momentum of the river and go with the flow.

Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18)
Full Moon energy illuminates personal motives and desires as you see the meaning behind the madness and the reason for the season. Change is the only constant and riding the wave, rather than fighting the tide, is the only way to go. Maintaining a sense of goodness, doing the next right thing and staying awake and aware are all you can do. Be calm, be cool.

Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20)
The Virgo zodiac month marks the halfway point in your annual revolution around the Sun. This is the perennial time for balancing self interests with the interests of others, seeing just who shows up in your life and examining the self you see reflected in your relationships. Mercury retrograde favors reconnecting and revisiting. Make amends.
