Big bassman Mike Bub has played with a lot of different groups at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. He is back in Telluride this year with a new group, 18 South.
Self -described as “Soulful Southern roots music”, the band delivers a delicious acoustic product. 18 South is a solid rhythm section: Bub on doghouse bass and Larry Atamanuik on drums; Jimmy Wallace, keyboards and vocals; Guthrie Trapp, guitar; Jon Randall Stewart, guitar and vocals; and Jessi Alexander on vocals.
Besides 18 South’s Friday morning slot, they will be performing in the Mountain Village at the second annual “Firstgrass” concert at the Sunset Plaza stage, Wednesday, June 16, 5:00-8:00 pm, on the program with Sarah Jarosz
Telluride, be forewarned: whether your taste leans toward whiskey-soaked late night ballads, or rockin’ acoustic blues, you’ll have a lot to hear with 18 South.
