12 Jun Dog's Best Friend: Ted ups the ante with Drake's training
Telluride Inside… and Out has been privileged to watch Ted Hoff of Cottonwood Ranch and Kennel as he trains the dogs in his care. It’s hard to believe that Drake, the little ball of fluff we met in December, is now a six-month old yellow Labrador, and ready for more advanced training.
Ted has been training Drake since the beginning, but that early training was masked as fun. The trust and desire to please that were ingrained in Drake are now used to take his education to the next level. Note that some of the same elements are present: repetition, pets and praise. Also, from the beginning and continuing now, the training and the length of session are tailored to the pup’s maturity and attention span. Also, note that there is a definite separation between school time and play time.
Looks like Drake enjoys school, but is ready for playtime when school is out.
