05 May Your Ah Haa Moment: Diana Fayt
Telluride's Ah Haa School for the Arts's Visiting Artists program, one of the many gems in the wide-ranging curriculum, is a magnet, drawing students to town from all over the country as well as locals.
Ceramicist Diana Fayt teaches "Nature on the Surface," June 4 – 6, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.The workshop focuses on composition on a 3D surface, including applications such as layering slips and underglazes to create rich fields of color, drawing on and in clay, the uses of oxides, firing, and other tricks of the trade that help establish clean, crisp lines.
In 1992, Fayt received a fine arts degree in ceramics and printmaking. By 1994, she developed her signature process, "etching in clay," a combination of drawing, painting, printmaking on clay, with narratives derived from the natural world, mundane life experiences, and travels.
