22 May Dog’s Best Friend: Playing nicely
If you have been watching Ted Hoff's videos from Cottonwood Ranch and Kennel, you can't help being aware of how much dog training is about allowing the dogs to do what they want to do anyway. Of course, Ted is adamant that a dog be focused when there is a particular skill being taught, but much of the training is informal, and looks a lot like fun. He is also quite careful about putting dogs together that he can trust to play nicely.
Today's video has three dogs playing with a shed deer antler found on the ranch, and it's a pleasure to see the games that ensue. Mae, the black Lab female is very patient with boisterous Drake, the young yellow Lab, but doesn't allow him to run over her.
