07 Apr Telluride: End of ski season, 2010
Easter Sunday was a great day on the mountain at Telluride. First, the skiing was great. I did a few cruising runs on Lift 5 with Susan and our friends Lawrie and Sheila. At the top of the lift we chatted with Dylan and Dawn and their young kids. There were also some wild costumes in evidence, so the people watching was fun as well. Hawkeye was, guess what, a pirate. Hard to believe the lifts will be still tomorrow, another ski season done.
I was out without a helmet so I took it rather easy, but from the top of 5 I could see some good lines up on Palmyra Peak, and later when Lawrie and I went to ski a few runs over on Lift 9, we could see some interesting tracks on the east side of the Bear Creek canyon. He and I did one short but sweet run in the trees off the Plunge below Logpile, finishing that one on the bumps on the Plunge headwall and down to Lower Bushwacker, which had been groomed.
We did a quick run on Bushwacker which was in good shape, then back up for a cruise down See Forever to meet Susan and Sheila at Gorrono. The place was rockin', the decks and the hillside above the bandstand were filled by happy folks, visiting, dancing, listening to the music of the Drew Emmitt Band. Too soon Sus and I had to leave- we had to get to town in time to pick up tickets for the Phish concert in Telluride this summer. Ah, Telluride: never a dull moment… Watch Telluride Inside… and Out for what's happening theis summer. It's just around the corner.
