April 22 to 29, 2010
Visible Planets: Morning: Jupiter  Evening: Venus, Mars and Saturn

Brule-War-Party The Taurus zodiac month began here in the San Juans with gentle rain, rumbling thunder and magnificent lightning, but this morning I awoke to a world of white. Overnight, the rain had turned to snow. It wasn’t long before bright green popped out beneath Mother Nature’s soft, nurturing blanket – the next few days will paint the pastures shades of brilliant emerald and shimmering jade. There’s nothing like the snows of spring, followed by dazzling sun and blossoming life.

For me, this time of year is a time of memories, emotion and nostalgia. As the Sun enters my 12th House of the numinous and divine, I drift back to those halcyon days of childhood, when the world sparkled, fairies danced and the lands of magic, mystery and intrigue lived in and all around me. My imagination saw witches in babushka-clad old ladies, Indians riding ponies along Cherry Creek and dinosaurs traveling across far distant horizons.

23590_110944198920921_100000160251805_259884_8364927_n All along the way, I had two sisters and two brothers – one older and one younger  – and we were close in age, all five of us born within nine years of each other. Pisces, Taurus, Libra, Aquarius and Aries – a variety of signs and symbols, elements and modalities – packed into a modest home on south Forest street in Denver, overlooking the twinkling lights and vast expanse of the Rocky Mountain horizon. That meant plenty of diversity and no-lack-of-action inside or outside – hide n’ seek, ditch ‘em, football, baseball, dress-up, dolls, cards, plays, horses and haunted houses – you name it, we did it.

Jeff&Bombers My one-year older than me brother, Jeff – the Taurus – taught me how to run fast, throw, catch and swing, use a mitt and ride a bike. He was definitely the reason I won blue ribbons on field day and could hit home runs at bat. I was a cheerleader for his Young America Little League football team – the Bombers – and years later dated the quarterback of his high school team. In college we both went to CU, played tennis and worked at the same Mexican restaurant while we studied and struggled through school. I had my path and he had his, but, just like kids, we continued to bounce off and learn from each other. With all my Libra fantasy and mystical realities, my girlie pinks, proms and promises, my Taurus brother kept me grounded in the here-and-now, the earthy reality of balancing financial equations, being patient, sticking to a plan and working hard to reach a goal.

JeffWinston Both of us modeled – he made money at it, I did not. He had the patience to stick with it and persevere while he held down another job and finished college. I ran off to Telluride, opened a boutique and told fortunes in the downtown loft of the Ritzy Gypsy. He popped up on billboards, magazines and newspapers while I fell in love with the metaphysical magic of the San Juans and a strong, handsome young carpenter from California. We have both followed our hearts, lived our dreams and listened to our own inner truth. We share the same childhood, same brother, sisters, parents and grandparents. We have traveled different roads and experienced different experiences, but we are bound and connected by love, blood and laughter, sharing the same journey of life and heading toward the same ultimate destination. On April 23rd, my brother Jeff celebrates another revolution around the Sun. Thank you for teaching me the Taurus values of patience, practice and practicality, focus, effort, hard work, tenacity, loyalty and grace. May we share the beauty and bounty of our earth walk now and forever, in this life and all the rest. Happy birthday, Brother!

Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
Earthy Taurus energy tamps the flames and tills the soil in efforts to prevent wildfires from burning out of control. Aries energy is inherently positive and energetically primal, prone to excitement, driven by passion and directed by instinct. Now it’s time to slow down, cool anger and cultivate restraint. Write it down, think it out and count your blessings.

Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
Happy Birthday month to the Bull! Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun. Your solar year begins with Mercury retrograde in Taurus – favoring a slower pace with which to start anew. Take time to enjoy the beauty and bounty surrounding you. Cultivate gratitude for what you have and what you don’t have. Make lists and prepare for your debut.

Gemini (May 21-June 21)
Voluptuous Venus enters Gemini this week and shimmers silvery rays of love and beauty down upon you. Others may be enigmatically attracted to your rather seductive energy and charismatic spell. Don’t let it go to your head. Instead, utilize this fickle, fleeting power as a creative tool to manifest art, cultivate peace or simply be sweet. Enjoy the sizzle.

Cancer (June 22-July 22)
You may discover that your popularity precedes you or that others are talking about where you are and what you’ve done long before you’ve been there. Take a deep breath and remember that we cannot control what others do or think, we must simply focus on ourselves and do the best we can. Keep it clean, enjoy spring and relax in the moment.

Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
Motivated, energetic and positive, the Lion roars as springtime paints the pastures green and melts the snows of winter. Enjoy the primal, birthing energy of new life and fresh horizons as you explore options and expand possibilities. Just remember patience when dealing with others, they may be slower, more cautious and less enthusiastic than you are. Be cool.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
Serious Saturn in late Virgo aspects both Uranus and Neptune this week, painting an enigmatic masterpiece of intrigue and opportunity. Clues abound and solutions await those willing to readjust their perspective and look at things from different angles. Are you resisting knowledge or refusing to accept what you already know? Open and surrender!

Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
Mercury retrogrades are periods of reflection, review and regeneration. Now, with Venus fresh in Gemini, the cosmos favor returning to creative writing projects, exploring literature or doing research in areas of spiritual or intellectual interest. Clear the clutter, clean the office and get down to business. Bottom line: use your brain and improve your world.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Motivation to achieve continues as relationship issues take center-stage. Be as patient as possible with others as you move steadfastly toward your goals. Venus now in your solar 8th house of intimacy shimmers sparkly romance and seductive sexuality into your heart and soul. Be sweet and recognize the awesome power of love in all its grandeur. Embrace magic.

Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
The Taurus zodiac month encourages the Archer to slow down, be patient and work on self-improvement. The busy busy-ness of life can be seductive and addictive. Living large, refusing to look at details and running in circles can put you in a tailspin and ultimately bring you down. Breathe deep, focus on the present and take it one day at a time.

Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
2010 promises to be an incredibly powerful year, one that forces change and guarantees greatness. The challenges equal the rewards, and both are great. Take advantage of this fertile period of preparation via spiritual practice, daily exercise and organic foods. No joke, you are embarking upon a journey of metamorphic transformation. Get clear and be clean.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
A sparkling window of cosmic opportunity opens as Venus, Neptune, Uranus and Saturn constellate in starry patterns of awakening, surrender, acceptance and responsibility. You know by now which way to go and how to travel. Prepare for the journey and take only paths of heart – all other roads will lead you astray. Practice patience and cultivate balance.

Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
The fourth and next-to-last in a series of Saturn/Uranus oppositions takes place in Virgo/Pisces this week, indicating push-and-pull dynamics in relationship. This is an ultimately positive and liberating energetic, complete with excitement and creative oomph. Just hang on to your hat and let the wind blow. Be sweet with your word and kind with your heart.
