03 Jan New Year’s Eve in Telluride
It snowed in Telluride the night of December 30, but New Year's Eve dawned under crystalline skies. Blue skies and new powder snow- does it get any better than that?
We took Gina the Dog for a snowshoe hike in the hills behind our house, had a quick breakfast, then I met a friend at Giuseppe's to take a few runs. By then it was time to head down the mountain to meet my student at the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program for an afternoon lesson.
Skiing over, time to rush home, clean up, dress "Telluride formal" and head out for the evening.
First stop: the Ah Haa School for drinks and appetizers at the school's Gala. We couldn't stay for dinner, as we were due at a wine tasting hosted by friends. We got to the Sheridan Opera House in time for a dance or two before "Auld Lang Syne".
We spent a few minutes mingling with the crowd in the middle of Colorado Avenue in front of the Courthouse. Then it was time to go home.
It was a full day among friends. We couldn't do it all, but we gave it a good shot. It was a good farewell to 2009, and now on to 2010. Happy New Year!
