This year, I’ll be watching the Full Moon rise over the Sea of Cortez, thinking about everyone back home in Colorado – the snow, the crystalline ice and the cold, cold air. Wishing you all the very, very best in this second decade of this New Age Millennium!

2009 draws to a close with a super-powerful “supermoon” lunar eclipse @ 10º 14’ Capricorn/Cancer. Full Moons, and especially eclipses, call us to release what is no longer serving our growth. And they have a fabulous way of illuminating exactly what we need to let go of. Cancer deals with emotions and emotional reactions. It’s how we instinctively react to life’s circumstances and experiences. Cancer is the little baby, the child, and the part of us that wants to be protected and feel secure. Capricorn is the adult, the boss, and the mature wise one who holds the scepter and is in control. It represents our wisdom and maturity, our ability to accept responsibility and take realistic, practical action to resolve problems and accomplish goals. Capricorn is the protected and Capricorn is the protector.

Full Moons are all about balance and equilibrium. We are asked to see both sides of the coin, hear both sides of the story and make clear, calculated deductions and decisions after we’ve thoroughly examined the dualities, polarities and opposites. And, usually, even if we aren’t looking for the opposing force or opinion, it’s somehow handily exposed.

As a closing dénouement to a year of radical change and strong political polarity, the Dec. 31st New Year’s Eve lunar eclipse delivers a strong dose of Capricorn – the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Pluto and the Moon’s North Node are all in the zodiac’s tenth sign – reminding us that we are part of a social structure, a society of individuals subject to laws and regulations, governments and ruling bodies. We must recognize our part in the bigger picture and accept responsibility for our actions. It’s all about working toward a better world and building the structures for a new, more workable, more practical, utilitarian reality.

Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
