350.org Day in Telluride big success

Telluride’s The New Community Coalition lead the charge locally on the global celebration of climate action, 350.org day, an event which brought together individuals, nonprofits and local businesses to finding local living solutions for worldwide climate change.

350.org day was also a perfect time to re-energize Telluride Renewed, the mayors challenge to the communities of Telluride and Mountain Village to produce 100% of our electricity from new renewable sources by 2020.
 
Steps to realize Telluride’s ambitious begin with initiatives such as
• Energy, conservation and efficiency education programs
• “Greening the Gondola” ( Ben Williams and TNCC)

TNCC is also  researching the feasibility of:
• Solar panel array at the waste water treatment plant.
•  Local micro-hyrdo projects.
