Telluride Adaptive Sports Program furnished volunteers to man the aid station at Lizard Head Pass on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in support of the Colorado Peace Ride.
The first riders left the soccer field at Lawson Hill around 7:00 am, and Gordon Henriksen reached the top of Lizard Head Pass at approximately 8:20. The ride from just below Trout Lake to nearly the summit was in the shade and still quite cool for the early arrivals. But it was sunny on top, so extra layers were being removed, in spite of the fast downhill on the south side of the pass. After Lizard Head, it was mostly downhill to Dolores. The ride finished on Wednesday in Durango, completing the circle.
