29 Jul Your Ah Haa Moment: the Auction
Telluride's Ah Haa School for the Arts held its 17th Annual Art Auction Friday night, July 24. The natives turned out in force – and in costume – and the overall event was a colorful and smashing success. Ah Haa is still tallying the numbers, later on that, but when auctioneer Buster Cattles asked for donations for the school just because, the paddle-raising exercise alone netted $9250. Bidding on the electric art car was also hot and heavy. It sold for $8250, over $3,000 more than its suggested value. Guest artist Susan Saint James triumphed: her two works sold for over $11,000.
The Ah Haa School extends a heartfelt "thanks" to everyone who showed up and/or donated for the overwhelming show of support and to all the local and regional artists for their generosity. The arts are an integral part of any great community and Ah Haa is grateful to live in place such as Telluride that cherishes creativity as much as we do.
