01 Jul Your Ah Haa moment: Nemirov and Pinhead
This week, a group of 30 artists, the winners of a juried process, are in Telluride for the Sheridan Arts Foundation's Plein Air event, culminating with a show of their work over the Fourth of July weekend. These painters are visiting town from all over the country, except for two: locals Wayne McKenzie and Meredith Nemirov also made the cut.
Both McKenzie and Nemirov were selected to participate Telluride Plein Air 2008, when Nemirov won the Sheridan Arts Foundation's Quick Draw & Sale, happening this year, Thursday, July 2, 10:30 a.m. – noon, Main Street.
A longtime contributor and instructor at the Ah Haa School for the Arts, Meredith Nemirov is teaching two classes at the school this month.
The first Ah Haa class, "Drawing the Land," July 13 – July 15, is a full three-day workshop that dives into the emotions and techniques of plein air watercolor painting. Students learn not about recreating what they see, more about expressing what they sense. Making art in the Impressionist tradition is all about skies the color of butter and pink elephants. All levels welcome.
On July 27, Nemirov teaches a One Day Watercolor Workshop for Beginners Only.
And for those of you that have yet to explore watercolor but have always wanted to…Ah Haa’s One Day Watercolor Workshop for Beginners Only will be taught by Meredith on July 27th. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to study with a true local talent.
This year, Ah Haa has joined forces with the Pinhead Institute to offer science courses in which kids get to explore and discover science through art. By encouraging young minds to investigate, invent, and experiment, this unique partnership helps kids understand just how fun, exciting and accessible the world of science can be.
The Young Naturalist: Flowers, Trees, Bugs, Birds & Bees four day camp starts July 6.
