Grandpa Bunny Bunny and Heaven, Rain and Rainbows

13959623 Lizard head When I was a little girl, my Mother used to load my brothers and sisters and me up in our red and white 1958 Chevy station wagon – I think it was on Fridays – and we’d make the exciting journey to the big, modern Safeway supermarket on South Colorado Boulevard in Denver. It was always a big event because the refrigerator would go from empty to full, and in summer we’d come home with bags of fresh peaches, watermelon, strawberries and bing cherries – yum!

But, perhaps even more exciting than the groceries, we were also allowed to pick out a new Golden Book from the children’s section of the store, and that meant opening new doors in the fascinating worlds of information and imagination. Those glistening golden bindings just shimmered with anticipation.

One of my favorites was entitled Grandpa Bunny Bunny. It was a sweet tale of a Grandpa rabbit who taught the little bunnies about the magic of nature and prepared them for life in Earth’s changing seasons. He was a supreme storyteller and magnificent artist. He showed them compassion and love, patience and grace. They came to depend on his direction and guidance, and when the day came that Grandpa Bunny Bunny was no longer in his hole, when he had passed on, the little bunnies were lost in their sadness and grief.

1 And then the rain came, and the bunnies cried. But when the Sun came out, a glimmering rainbow appeared and the bunnies remembered that Grandpa Bunny Bunny had taught them to look for messages and meaning in the skies and shadows, the snow, the stars and the clouds. And suddenly, they could feel Grandpa Bunny Bunny in the rainbow, and they knew he had become the rainbow. They knew he was in a beautiful place – a place called heaven – and that he would never leave them because he was in everything he’d taught them to love…

Last week I attended the touching memorial service for Captain Jack Carey in the Telluride Town Park. Blue-grey clouds covered the Sun, and halfway into the service, it started to rain. And when the service ended and the crowd joined hands in a moving spiral, it really started dumping, and we became the rain.

Later that evening, back home on Wrights Mesa, I saw a rainbow…

This week, take note of the last in our series of summer eclipses. On August 5th at 6:55 pm MDT, the Aquarius Moon will exactly oppose the Leo Sun @ 13º 43’ in the celestial aspect of a Full Moon lunar eclipse. As always during eclipses, pay attention to the people, circumstances, events and experiences that come your way. Use the “T triple A T” slogan: Be totally attentive at all times, look before you leap and think before you speak. Leo/Aquarius is about the Heart in all its manifestations. It’s about love, respect, admiration, attention and friendship. Be your own best friend and become a friend to others. We are the world, we are the children….

Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
Cosmic wind blows through the still open eclipse window and ignites embers of the heart to flame. Full Moon energy illuminates the importance of friendship in all successful relationships. Treating others with respect guarantees you get it. Venus now in Cancer brings romance back home. Be kind and gentle to yourself as romance blossoms.

Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
Pay attention to the people, events, experiences and circumstances to which you are exposed to or a part of this week. Fixed-sign Full Moon lunar eclipse energy puts you up close and personal to issues of family, home and childhood, while matters of professional standing and who’s in charge still rage. Open your heart and be a friend. Take the high road.

Gemini
(May 21-June 21)
Thinking, talking, writing, discussing, traveling and learning are heartfelt this week as you experience the power, magic and wisdom of feeling and listening to your heart. Twins love the multi-faceted, multi-dimensional realms of mind and spirit. Flying above the mundane and soar with the eagles. Look beyond the horizon and follow the sun.

Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Voluptuous Venus moves in to your sign this week and suddenly the world is rosy. Pink clouds, magical sunsets and romantic partners embellish your days and delight your nights. Eclipse energy encourages acceptance, responsibility and perseverance. You are exactly where you’re supposed to be today. Work on building a better future in the present.

Leo
(July 23-Aug.22)
The Full Moon lunar eclipse of Aug. 5th marks a milestone and turning point for the Lion. Look back to Aug. 1990 for a theme. People, partners and romantic relationships play major roles in your ongoing life biography. Are you behaving as you want others to behave or expecting others to be other than you are? Action is karma, we reap what we sow.

Virgo
(Aug. 23-Sep.22)
Ruler Mercury moves in to Virgo this week and does a quick three-week run through your sign. Travel, siblings, learning and communication are themes. Take it easy, one day at a time, breathe and relax. Practice focusing on the moment and living in the present. Calm down, be impeccable with your word and simply do the next right thing.

Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
The recent Cancer eclipses focused on home, family, childhood, emotional and professional well-being. The upcoming Leo/Aquarius full Moon eclipse illuminates all matters and manifestations of heartfelt living. Tap in to your heart, feel its power and follow its wisdom. Experience the magic of friendship by being a good one. Celebrate life!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Take note of the energy surrounding you this week. Cosmic messages are everywhere, and you need not go far to find or feel them. Freedom is a theme – both yours and others – and the heart is your guide. Detach emotionally from family matters, be your own best friend and travel the high road when in doubt. Strive to achieve and let the universe provide.

Sagittarius
(Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
This week’s eclipse delivers supportive, encouraging energy to the Archer. Recent setbacks or struggles mellow as you see the power of positive thinking and pursue paths of balance and equanimity. Some things change in an instant, other things take years. Accept life on life’s terms and do your best to make the world a better place to learn and grow.

Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
Personal effort and individual will are players in your week as lunar light illuminates matters of material security and stability. Take a good look at your values and determine whether or not you are living in harmony and support of them. Venus now in your solar 7th house of partnership favors negotiations and settlements, legal and otherwise. Be calm, be cool.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
2009 is a stellar year for personal awakening and awareness. Cosmic forces are uplifting, enlightening and encouraging you to go and grow in happy, healthy new directions. Are you willing and ready? It’s finally time to disconnect from dysfunctional influences and destructive habits and set yourself free. Open your heart to good and nurture the child within.

Pisces
(Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
Guardian angels and invisible forces continue to shower both sunlight and starlight upon your path. Keep your eyes and heart open as you travel the road of spiritual awakening and loving-kindness. Be your own best friend as you go about your daily round, count your blessings and do your chores. Humility is an ally, embrace its grace.
