Call it synergy, call it serendipity- on Feb 4 & 5, Telluride's Wilkinson Public Library, in conjunction with Telluride Adaptive Sports Program, presents Jeff Evans, mountaineer and motivational speaker, and the film "Blindsight."
The synergy piece comes in because Scott Doser, program director at the library, realized that TASP's Expand Your Horizons camp was going on during the time he wanted to bring Evans to Telluride. The camp will host many high-level athletes who have physical challenges, and Jeff Evans accompanied blind climber Erik Weihenmayer on his successful Everest climb in 2001.
"Blindsight" tells the story of a Himalayan climb with six blind Tibetan youths. "Blindsight" will show at the Nugget, Wednesday, Feb 4 at 8:30 pm, preceded by a meet & greet with Jeff Evens at the Schilling Studio/Gallery (151 S. Pine) at 6 pm. Admission for the film and reception is $50, for just the film, $15. All proceeds benefit Telluride Adaptive Sports Program.
On Thursday, Feb 5, there is a coffee and pastry breakfast with Jeff at the Library Program Room. This event, and Jeff's community presentation at the Telluride Conference Center in the Mountain Village at 7 pm Thursday evening are free to the public.
