"Benjamin Button" opens with bang: "I was born under unusual circumstances" says the protagonist.
What unfolds is a story, adapted from a classic 1920s tale by F. Scott Fitzgerald, about a man born in his 80s who ages backwards, a man like any of us unable to stop time.
"Benjamin Button" is set in New Orleans. It begins at the end of World War I and moves forward from 1918 into the 21st century. Among the themes of this time traveler's tale are the joys of life, the sadness of loss and death, and what lasts beyond time.
The film is perfect for fans of romance, great acting, and writing. It is perfect for people who enjoy special effects and sweeping dramas.
One critic wrote: "'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' is akin to a long, slow, satisfying massage. Like a childhood lullaby that gives you dreams even while you’re awake. Like a lovely fairy tale that you keep wanting to hear again and again." Here's a quote:
"For what it’s worth, it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit… start whenever you want… you can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that stop you. I hope you feel things that you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life that you’re proud of and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."
