January 8 to 15, 2009
Visible Planets:
Morning: Saturn
Evening: Venus and Jupiter
Several astrological events of note take place this week:
1. The year’s first “super-moon” – which is a lunation that takes place when the Moon is both at perigee (its closest approach to Earth) and syzygy (in direct alignment with the Sun and Earth) – occurs on Jan. 10th at 8:27 p.m. MST and will come to fruition @ 22 degrees in the Capricorn/Cancer polarity.
As with all Full Moons, expect to experience illumination in fields of darkness. This month, look for enlightenment regarding physical, material realities and the identification of sacrifices and resources necessary to achieve goals and manifest dreams. This is a very karmic Moon, when we see clearly and understand the consequences of our actions and choices. Life is an ongoing process of cause and effect, choose and act wisely.
2. Saturn moves through the first week of a three month long period of apparent retrograde motion in Virgo (it won’t go direct again until mid-May 2009) and we return to reshaping and restructuring our work, health and service-related activities. This one requires some humility and can be utilized with great success by those willing to clean, organize and prioritize their own lives and work on personal self-improvement rather than focusing on what other could do differently. Give and do your best – for the good of all concerned – and experience the beauty and grace of vestal Virgo.
3. The planetary opposition of Saturn and Uranus closely aspects the Full Moon, forming a ‘mystic rectangle’ – an aspect which increases awareness, promotes creativity and sparks insight – so look for the magic in the mystery. This is an aspect that greatly facilitates the ability to see alternatives and implement positive changes in otherwise perplexing or difficult situations and relationships.
4. Lastly, mental Mercury goes retrograde on Jan. 11th at 9:44 a.m. MST and will remain so for approximately three weeks. As always, remember that anything and everything beginning with the prefix “re” is favored. Redo, replan, return, research, rejuvenate, reinvent, redesign, recharge…the list goes on, and it’s up to you!
Aries (March21-April21)
The first “super-moon” of 2009 takes place on Jan. 10th and strikes the match, lights the candle and illuminates a path of self-discipline, sacrifice and ultimate achievement for the Ram. Somewhat challenging, but long overdue and actually welcome, this fortuitous opportunity comes from within and blossoms as a time of great potential progress and personal productivity. Embrace the change.
Taurus (April22-May21)
Career status or issues of authority may appear to be haunting, helping or hindering your personal definition of success and happiness, but the most important thing to remember is that it’s all about growth and self-improvement. You are just now embarking upon a year of great achievement and recognition. Don’t allow negative thinking or fear-based behaviors get in the way. Think positive and be productive.
Gemini (May22-June20)
Staying true to your personal values is a must as the Sun and Moon form a mystic rectangle with Saturn and Uranus this week. It’s all about being practical, realistic and honest. A long awaited opportunity to communicate how you feel about an emotionally difficult partnership may present itself. Accept responsibility for your part, but have the courage to call a spade a spade. Be impeccable with your word.
Cancer (June21-July20)
The Capricorn/Cancer lunation is one that calls upon Moonchildren to focus upon balance, equanimity and responsibility in relationships. Particularly auspicious planetary aspects this year encourage great success when it comes to understanding codependent, dysfunctional or destructive behaviors in yourself and others. Work on emotional detachment, realistic goals and productive, right action.
Leo (July21-Aug.20)
Karma is not punishment, but simply the natural result of action. This week, the Lion reaps the rewards of cause and effect. Plenty of partnership attention encourages social involvement, but it’s time to focus on personal healing, physical wellness and spiritually enriching activities. A nurturing mother figure or archetypically feminine influence comes via dream-states or past experience. Listen to her advice.
Virgo (Aug.22-Sept.20)
A “mystic rectangle” of planets supports your ability to see yourself and the world from an exciting, new perspective. “Think different” and implement positive changes in your personal world and relationships. Saturn, Lord of Karma, retraces the path you’ve recently tread and gives you one last chance to straighten things up and out. Sacrifice glut for good, reduce excess be realistic. Do the work and keep the faith.
Libra (Sept.21-Oct.21)
Master Teacher Saturn is making its last pass through your solar 12th house of karmic lessons and spiritual surrender. Recognize how you may be creating problems for or working against yourself and be willing to change negatives into positives. Often it’s simply seeing the situation differently and taking responsibility for it rather than blaming others or outside forces. The answer lies within. Embrace the divine inside and out.
Scorpio (Oct.22-Nov.21)
With so many planets in collective signs, you may be feeling personally connected to and under the influence of national trends, global forces or cosmic rays. Understand that while you are certainly psychically receptive and tuned in to invisible energies, you must take full responsibility for your actions, words and deeds. Your charisma and magnetism must not be abused. Respect is the keyword here. Get real and be cool.
Sagittarius (Nov.21-Dec.20)
Happy-go-lucky Archers must face reality now as planets line up to illuminate personal responsibilities and the practical path to success. It’s time to understand that you will always have choices, and you will always experience the consequences of those choices. This Full Moon illuminates what has been chosen in the past and the options you have now. What does your body, your environment and your emotions show you?
Capricorn (Dec.21-Jan.19)
Pay attention to emotions, experiences and energies this week as the Capricorn/Cancer Full Moon comes to fruition. Some very powerful cosmic forces are working in your favor and great good fortune comes to those who align with compassion, sacrifice and surrender. It’s time to be a practical mystic and a courageous spiritual warrior. Let go of trying to manipulate others and control outcomes. Simply put: let go, let God.
Aquarius (Jan.20-Feb.19)
Good luck planet Jupiter has taken up residence in Aquarius until early 2010, so prepare for a year of increased opportunity, better health and more optimistic attitudes. Focus on the positive aspects of your life and your situation. See the beauty all around you. Explore the world and expand your mind via travel, books or higher education. But first, connect with your angels and ask for guidance. Then follow the signs.
Pisces (Feb.20-March20)
This Full Moon lunation is super-duper and one in which you may discover the magic in the madness. The world can feel like a crazy, wildly out-of-control place, and yet, you see the beauty in the bounty. Classify and prioritize your time, organize your desk and clean up your immediate environment. Simplify your day by taking care of yourself and letting others do the same.
